On the 9th and 10th of September Bibione celebrates the grape harvest with the traditional Septemberfest; a festival of grapes and local cuisine dedicated to tourists and anyone passionate about food and wine.
Two evenings wrapped in the wonderful September climate, with dancing and live music in the central Piazzale Zenith, the natural hub for so many of the events offered by the Veneto beach resorts. The Septemberfest – is an initiative by the Estate Agencies of Bibione organised by the ProTurist Bibione and now in its 36th year – the happily established programme promises entertainment for young and old alike, combined with unforgettable flavours and excellent wines; a rich array of delicious, healthy specialities from the inland region to take back home as a holiday souvenir.
The principal wineries in the San Michele al Tagliamento municipal are all involved, they bring with them their Chardonnay and Merlot from Lison-Pramaggiore. Anyone with an ultra-refined palate will also have the opportunity to sample many of the other prestigious Italian fine wine labels. Continuing the tradition of previous years, the sought after wine bag is back, granting free wine tastings on both days to the clients of the estate agencies.
There are plenty of well-supplied food and culinary stands offering the chance to try typical local products, such as Montasio cheese and polenta, the giant mortadella, wild boar and porchetta and, of course, plenty of seafood such as sardines and squid.
The success of Septemberfest grows from year to year, in 2018 it registered 50 thousand visitors with a large portion of these being children. Just for them, Bibione organises a fun ride through the town centre on board a mini train and a programme of events full of surprises and games, activities with acrobats, fire eaters, clowns and jugglers.
The magic of the Grand Finale will be provided by a pyrotechnic display over the sea: from 11:00 pm onwards, at the Piazzale Zenith, as a last warm embrace to all our guests, there is musical display of fireworks.
